RAL 1001

There are numerous synonyms for RAL colour 1001: cream, cream white, eggshell, ivory, yellowish [white], matte yellow, sand ¬– they are all beige (which is pronounced in different ways and often incorrectly) and this is a so-called natural colour, as sand, eggshells or natural wool demonstrate. According to Wikipedia, the colour beige comprises a sequence of (undefined) warm, whitish brown shades. The warm, natural appearance makes beige particularly interesting for clothing and home textiles or a neutral, yet warm background par excellence.

The word beige is said to come from the French and to have become a synonym for natural colour in the 19th century. The origin of the word could come from the Latin Baeticus (Baetish, from the province of Baetica in southwestern Spain, famous for its wool). In addition to RAL 1001 Beige, there are the shades of Green beige RAL 1000, Brown beige RAL 1011, Grey beige RAL 1019 and Pearl beige RAL 1035.
